East Carolina University (ECU) has secured a place in the championship round of the American Athletic Conference (AAC) tournament after defeating South Florida (USF) in a thrilling semifinal match, finishing 9-7. This victory marks ECU's third consecutive win in the tournament held in Clearwater, Florida, where they previously overcame No. 2 seed Charlotte. Despite facing an early setback with a 4-0 deficit, the Pirates rallied back with notable performances, including a critical three-run ninth inning that sealed their victory. Freshman Braden Burress ignited the offense with a solo home run, while Ryley Johnson and Colby Wallace contributed with key hits, enhancing their lead to 9-6. The win showcases ECU's determination as they prepare to face No. 4 Tulane in the title game, aiming for their second AAC tournament championship in four years.
